International Documentary Photography Workshop

Grades: Completing Grade 8 and above


The Workshop aims to offer participants a wide range of relevant skills of delicate observation to life, real cross cultural life experience resulting in the production of a photography portfolio drawn from Beijing’s ancient and modern, conservative and avantgarde environments. The Workshop also aims to facilitate global understanding by emphasizing cultural immersion, vision expansion, responsibility, independence, personal growth and professional development, to empower with knowledge and perspective for pursuing higher academic standard. The Workshop will be concluded with a photography portfolio exhibition.
The programme has been developed by InFocus Documentary Association, all the courses will
be designed and taught by Prof. Weimin Zhang of San Francisco State University, an awardwinning
filmmaker, cinematographer, educator, and multimedia artist. The uniqueness of this program is designed with the emphasis on providing the students an unique opportunity to explore, to participate, to blend the environmental, social and cultural issues together, to convey and articulate the meaning and messages through the themes and prototypes of documentary photography.
